Facebook Opposes Apple’s New Privacy Rules
Facebook Inc is pushing back on new Apple privacy rules. The company says that these rules will reduce businesses’ ability to target advertising. Apple’s new privacy rules, which might be implemented soon, will require other apps to ask users for permission to collect data.
The data that is collected from the users is used to lead ads to follow them around on the web. This change takes effect in the operating system of iOS 14, its latest version of Apple’s mobile.
On Wednesday, Facebook said that these new rules can reduce the number of money apps can earn by advertising. The company said that the new rules will severely change and impact publishers’ ability to monetize Facebook ads. They can eventually make the advertising tool ineffective on the new OS.

Facebook said that it will have considerably less impact on its advertising revenue from these changes. This change will no longer allow Facebook to collect the identifier for advertisers on its apps.
The company wrote, “This is not a change we want to make, but unfortunately Apple’s updates to iOS14 have forced this decision.”
On the other hand, Apple said that it intents to give people more choice over how they want to be tracked on the internet by companies.
Last month, in second-quarter earnings, Facebook’s CFO Dave Wehner said that the company is trying to understand what these changes will look like and how they will impact us. Adding “But at the very least, it’s going to make it harder for app developers and others to grow using ads on Facebook and elsewhere.“
