Microsoft Reveals Unified AI Assistant And New Surface Devices
In an announcement on Thursday, September 21, Microsoft unveiled it’s latest technological achievement. Microsoft introduced Copilot, a unified AI assistant set to change the Windows 11 platform. Simultaneously, they also revealed four new Surface Devices that will enhance user experiences with the latest technological advancements.
At Microsoft, Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president & consumer chief marketing officer, said, “We are entering a new era of AI, one that is fundamentally changing how we relate to and benefit from technology. With the convergence of chat interfaces and large-language models, you can now ask for what you want in natural language, and the technology is smart enough to answer, create it, or take action. At Microsoft, we think about this as having a copilot to help navigate any task.”
Copilot is designed to integrate with multiple Microsoft web and productivity applications flawlessly. This will include Bing, the Edge browser, and the Microsoft 365 software suite. The tech giant aims to enhance functionality and productivity for users on various Microsoft Platforms. They have also confirmed that the Copilot will be available for purchase starting November 1, 2023.
Windows 11 Updates Include Copilot Integration
Microsoft’s AI capabilities are merged into a single experience with Microsoft Copilot. It will incorporate the context and intelligence of the web, your work data, and whatever task you are performing on your PC. This will result in providing better assistance without compromising your privacy and security. These seamless features will be available in Windows 11, Microsoft 365, and web browsers with Edge and Bing, available as an app, or you can avail it whenever needed with a right-click
The Windows 11 update will carry over 150 new features allowing users to quickly create and complete tasks and simplify complicated tasks. The update will include Copilot integration, new Outlook for Windows, new capabilities in Paint, and Photos enhanced with AI. Moreover, it also has improved Clipchamp, Notepad, modernized File Explorer, and new natural voices in Narrator to enhance accessibility and productivity.
These updates will come out on September 26 with the latest update to Windows 11, version 22H2.
Copilot will also be introduced in Microsoft Shopping which means users will receive more tailored recommendations and the best prices based on your request. Along with Microsoft Shopping, Copilot will be integrated into Bing Chat Enterprise, Microsoft 365 Chat, and Microsoft Designer.
With the continuous upgrades and AI enhancements, Microsoft must also follow these AI regulations and data safety and privacy rules.
The Cutting Edge New Surface Devices
In addition to its AI progress, Microsoft is also expanding its hardware section with new surface devices. The company dropped three new laptops – Surface Laptop Go 3, Surface Laptop Studio 2, and Surface Go 4 for Business and an upgraded version of its interactive whiteboard, the Surface Hub 3.
The new Surface Laptop Studio 2 has the most powerful surface the company has ever built. The laptop possesses the latest Intel Core processors and cutting-edge NVIDIA Studio tools for creative individuals and enthusiasts. The display is a stunning 14.4″ PixelSense Flow touchscreen display and flexible design with three unique postures.
The new Surface Laptop Go 3 is light in weight and the most portable Surface Laptop. It also has premium features like a great typing experience and a Fingerprint Power Button. The new laptop contains a touchscreen display and comes in 4 colors which are Sage, Sandstone, Platinum, and Ice Blue. It will be a perfect everyday laptop with Intel Core i5 performance, all-day battery life, and robust RAM and storage options.
Surface Go 4 for Business is the most portable Surface 2-in-1. The new Surface Go will be available exclusively for organizations. It is ideal for professionals as it has robust computing power and security features.
Surface Hub 3 is a collaboration device built for hybrid work. It will now run the Microsoft Teams Rooms experience on a brilliant 50” or 85” screen, and bring new ways to create with AI-enhanced collaboration tools.
3D printable Adaptive Pen Grips for Surface Pen have been added to the lineup of adaptive accessories, enabling the engagement of more people in digital inking and creation than before.
